What made you choose Real Estate?
Honestly Real Estate chose me. Never in a million years did I ever think this will be what I would be doing. It started 9 years ago (2012) I used to work as a debt collector. I was not happy where I was at so when I got laid off it didn’t bother me. I always knew there was something more to what I can do. A few weeks after I was laid off I received a call from a friend with an opportunity to work as an assistant at a real estate office. At first I was a bit nervous about it but decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in I got an awesome feeling. At that moment I met Cynthia Rodriguez Owner / Broker of The Property Shop. We instantly clicked. She taught me everything I know. I started processing paper work doing date entry scheduling her appointments to helping her with rentals. I was learning hands on and I loved it. I grew a passion to the business listening to her speak to her clients negotiating deals and just seeing the happiness of her clients when they close on their first home. It was always so rewarding. Being a part of all that just felt right. So I decided to go for my real estate license. Within the years I grew my referral base clients with the help of Cynthia. I am now a top selling agent for The Property Shop Of CT ☺
How has Covid changed how you interact with your clients?
Covid 2020 was probably the busiest year I have ever had. Buyers were buying more than ever!!! We were definitely essential. A lot of agents were doing virtual showings. I did personal showings I just have to take the right precautions (Mask, Only 2 clients per showing, Keeping our distance, Hand sanitizer sometimes I even had to wear gloves. It was definitely a challenge. But Thank God Slowly its getting back to normal.
What are the education requirements?
For a Real Estate License you need take a course. I took mine in Manchester Community College; that took me about 3 months. After the course is completed u register to take the BIG Federal and State test. It took me a few tries but I was able to pass and officially became a REALTOR ☺ (Best decision I made for my Career)
What are the best and worst parts of the job?
The best part of being a realtor is the joy it brings families. I can’t express enough how it makes me feel to be part of making a lot of my clients dreams come true. Buying a home is a huge accomplishment and many people dream of it on a daily basis. Closing day is a celebration.
We do have down falls, especially in this current market. Worst part for me is having to tell my buyers that their offer to the house they fell in love with was not accepted. They get discourage at that moment its our job to keep them positive!!! My words to them is always:
“ What’s meant to be yours it will be “ Trust the process”.
How are the Salaries and benefits?
It’s all commission based and it depends on the Brokerage you work for and your yearly sales. You get a percentage % of whatever you sell.
My personal benefits of being a Realtor is that I am my own Boss I’m able to make my own schedule and even work from home if I want. This benefits me a lot especially being a mom of 3 boys. I get to spend more time with them, help them with school work. Travel with no need to request time off ☺ It’s definitely rewarding.
What are the work ethics involved?
A few things I would say you must be is:
